Ingredients

1 cup of Greek yoghurt
1 medium cucumber, grated and squeezed in between your hands to remove excess fluid from the cucumber
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped plus extra for garnish
15mls olive oil
Salt & pepper to taste

*Add crushed garlic to suit your taste

Preparation

Here is the recipe for Tzatziki Recipe Greek Dip. Dips do not get any easier to make than this one. It is interesting to note that considering how easy it is to make, a lot of people are still buying store-bought varieties. Although some of them can be quite good, homemade, is even better. Once you see how easy it is to make your own, you will most likely never go back to buying it ready-made.

Also, when you make your own, you can control how much of each ingredient goes into the mix. You will notice that this recipe does not have any garlic in it. This is because our family has problems digesting raw garlic. However, most Greek families will load their tzatziki with lots of cloves of garlic. Therefore, the amount of garlic you use is up to you. Also, if you like it a little extra tangy and refreshing simply add more lemon juice.

If you want to make this dip extra decadent, we recommend you strain the yoghurt through a muslin cloth overnight so all the extra whey can drain off. This will make the yoghurt really thick. If you do not have time to do this step, don’t worry. Just make sure you buy a really good quality yoghurt, to begin with.

Combine the yoghurt, cucumber, lemon juice, olive oil and dill in a medium bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Before serving, garnish with more fresh dill and olive oil. And then enjoy!
